Boosting up agricultural mechanization

$ 1.6 billion investment in agricultural mechanization 

Iran strongly intends to boost up the agricultural mechanization, machinery inventory and increase the productivity of agriculture and has allocated considerable budget to update and refresh the industry.

Iranian agricultural mechanization continues suffering from lack of expert management as well as limitation in having new technologies and equipment. After signing Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in 2015, Iran started to modernize the industry through dealing with mainly European countries specially Italy, to increase the performance and efficiency of the sector. The amount of $ 1.6 billion has been considered for this purpose, of which nearly 50 % goes to farming section and rest will be divided into horticulture, livestock and poultry, fisheries and seafood, and medicinal herbs respectively.

Among all types of machinery there are priorities for soil preparation, seeding and fertilization, and harvesting machinery within the farming sector as well as new technologies like weed killers spot spray machines. In horticultures there are immediate needs for orchards tree shakers as well as innovative machines for the harvest of pistachio nuts which does not allow the nuts to fall to the ground.
